What is kart racing?... ....Arguably the most hidden yet fastest growing motorsport in the U.S. today. Many famous racers today have started there career in karts, such as: Memo Gidley, Emerson Fittipaldi, Christian Fittipaldi, Jeff Gordan, Paul Tracy, Ayrton Senna, Ralf and Michael Schumacher just to name a few. And also some of the rising stars of the tommorow A.J. Allmendinger, & Joey Hand all stared racing in Karts.
Weather you are in it for a future career in racing, or just drive as a weekend warior karting is always a blast. Many people do no realize how fast and how much power these machine's have! With todays technology speeds exceding 100 M.P.H., and 125cc engines having as much as 40 HP are not uncommon!

HOW FAST DO "RACING KARTS" GO?--
-Well this depends on the class but most non gear-box karts will do about 65 M.P.H. Shifters can reachs speeds up to about 90 M.P.H. on most tracks
HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO RACE?--
-At most clubs you must be at least 5 years old to race in the kiddy kart class. And each class has its own age range (IE:5-8, 8-12, 12-15, 16+)
Can I drive a kart if I don't want to race?--
-Yes you can, clubs usaully have open practice weekends where you can go to the track and drive for a small fee. Normally if you are a member of the club you pay a yearly fee and can practice for free. And some clubs give you a key to the track and you can go and drive any time you want.
How much does it cost to race?--
-A new race kart (100cc) runs around $ 3,000, a used kart in fair shape about $1,500- 2,500. Shifters are obviously a bit more, you are looking at about + for a good brand new 80cc shifter kart. For your first year you are looking at costs of about ,000 which includes a good used kart, racing gear, club membership/race entry fee's, and all the stuff that you are going to break. And trust me it happens to the best of us.
IS KART RACING SAFE?--
-Racing is as safe as you make it. All motor sports have there dangers. Tracks requir snell 95 or later helmet, neck brace, leather jacket or racing suit, gloves, and high top shoes. Also On race days an ambulance is always present. Common sense comes into play when you ask "How safe it is"....
